Level I: Foundations Certificate

This course provides basic product knowledge and skills in the service of wine to prepare a person for their first job in the hospitality industry, or to upgrade the skills of someone already employed in this industry.  This course is also a good introduction to structured wine studies for the wine enthusiast.

To achieve this certificate, the candidate must complete the training seminar, successfully complete a portfolio of tasting notes, and pass a multiple choice examination.

Perfect for a restaurant or a restaurant group, this course’s format is normally done as a one day seminar, with the examination done at the conclusion of the day’s activities.  For a more in-depth look at the curriculum, IWEG also offers this enhanced course over four 2.5 hour sessions.
