Level IV Diploma Program Examination Format

The examination formats for the Level IV Diploma Program are as follows:

1. Unit 1:    One Course Work Assignment (50%) and one closed book examination Case Study (50%)
   

2. Unit 2:    100 question multiple-choice examination
   

3. Unit 3:    Theory exam of 5 written questions and a 12 Wine Tasting Exam
   

4. Unit 4:    Theory exam of 1 written question and a 3 Spirit Tasting Exam
   

5. Unit 5:    Theory exam of 1 written question and a 3 Wine Tasting Exam
   

6. Unit 6:    Theory exam of 1 written question and a 3 Wine Tasting Exam

Level IV Diploma Program Tuition Fee Details

The WSET offers a feature called the Diploma Assessment Preparation Scheme (DAPS).  This is a program whereby the student takes tests based on the Diploma examinations and they receive feedback on their performance.  This feedback helps students understand and reach the standard required for the Diploma qualification assessment.  As of 2009 the DAPS program will be made available to each newly registered In-Class and Home Study Diploma student as part of the course.  The DAPS program will run for the first 2 years of the program, focusing on Units 2 and 3 in the first year, and Units 4, 5 & 6 during the second year.  Click here to download a detailed DAPS summary (PDF).

The initial registration fee to begin enrollment in the Level IV Diploma Program is $500.00.  This fee includes the program registration fee as well as the cost of DAPS (Diploma Assessment Preparation Scheme) for the entire Diploma Program.  The tuition fees for the individual study units are as follows:

1. In an effort to provide classes with an ideal number of students for interaction with the instructor and a timely examination schedule, the IWEG Board of Directors has agreed that Diploma students will be expected to complete the coursework for Unit 1 and Unit 2 and the final exam for Unit 2 in the year of registration.  Following this, students are urged to follow the 2 semester program as prescribed. It is anticipated that the entire Diploma course can be completed in two years. Students not completing the program within 3 years are required by WSET to re-register.  There is a fee for re-registration.  This policy will apply to both in-class and home study students.
