Wine Scholar Challenge:
Thursday, September 24th @ 7PM EST via Zoom
This competition is open to all IWEG students and alumni; you do not have to be a Wine Scholar Guild student to participate. IWEG instructors are not eligible to compete.
An online "options game" competition will take place for each of the three Wine Scholar Guild focus countries (France, Italy and Spain). Each country will be a separate round in the game. Participants may compete in any or all of the three rounds, but each round must have a unique winner.
An options game consists of a series of 15 - 20 questions with two possible answers or “options.” Each round is composed exclusively of questions pertaining to the wines of either France, Italy or Spain. Participants are asked to pick one of the two options provided. Those who choose correctly continue to participate. Those who choose incorrectly are no longer in the game.
IWEG's three local winners will receive a one-year Wine Scholar Guild membership and move on to compete in the global options game finale on Thursday, October 29th @ 10AM EST.
The finale will consist of four rounds for all the local winners. There will be an options game on France, Italy and Spain, followed by a championship round for the winners of the previous three that consists of questions on all three countries.
The global options finale winner will receive a 2021 wine study immersion trip of their choice to France, Italy or Spain (Airfare is not included. Trip value is approximately $4,000 USD depending on the destination).
Host: IWEG's Wine Scholar Guild instructor Nancy Reynolds.
