This qualification offers a hands-on introduction to the world of sake.  You will explore the main styles and types of sake through sight, smell and taste to develop an understanding of the key factors affecting flavours and aromas.  

Successful completion of the WSET exam earn a professional certificate and lapel pin.

What you will learn:

  • The basic principles of sake production
  • The main types and styles of sake
  • How to serve sake
  • Factors affecting the flavour of sake
  • How to describe sakes using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Sake (SAT)
  • AND experiment with food and sake interaction and pairing

Deadline to register is Thursday, May 18th.  This Level 1 Award is a full day of study, Saturday, June 3rd, 9:30am - 5:30pm.  This course will be delivered by instructor Michael Tremblay, Sake Sommelier at Ki Restuarant, and co-hosted by Antony Moss from WSET School London.  The enriched food and sake pairing component will provide the opportunity to experience key pairing principles through interactive tasting.  Exam @4:30pm.  Students will have access to the Study Guide upon receipt of tuition and are required to read through the material before attending class in order to be familiar with content and participate in activities.  There will be a short break midday for refreshment.  Glassware provided. IWEG now offers an alternative to PayPal; to charge tuition to your Visa or MasterCard please call the office at 416-534-2570.
