Christopher Freeland 2007
An LCBO Product Consultant since 2005, Chris was born and raised in the cottage country town of Bracebridge. He now makes his home in Aurora, with wife Janet, and sons Travis and Spenser. After graduating from Ryerson University in 1979 with a degree in Photographic Arts, Chris worked as a freelance photographer specializing in food photography. In addition to assignments for Homemaker’s, Style at Home and Food and Drink magazine, Chris provided photography for the best-selling cookbooks ‘Sugar’ and ‘The ACE Bakery Cookbook.
Chris developed a strong interest in wine while doing assignments for Food and Drink, and decided to change careers. Soon after joining the LCBO in 2002, Chris embarked on wine and spirits studies through the Independent Wine Education Guild, achieving the respected WSET Diploma in June 2007.
For Chris, wine represents a convergence of art, culture, history and agriculture. His goal is to help customers integrate wine with their lifestyle, by exploring the quality and food-matching potential of wines from all wine regions of the globe.
A strong supporter of wine education, Chris participates in the LCBO's educational program by leading tutored tastings, wine appreciation classes and creating innovative wine matches for cooking classes. He is also now instructing for IWEG.
