It was through my travels that I became interested in learning more about wine.

As an enthusiast, I became curious about how wine was made, what makes a quality wine, and what types of food pairings are ideal. That took me through George Brown wine tasting courses, and eventually to the Advanced and Diploma Courses through IWEG/WSET.

I am planning to do the Honours Diploma and hoping to do a lot more wine-centred travel. I also intend to keep tasting with my tasting group.

My tasting group and classmates were highlights of my studies, and I’m very glad I met all of them. Any exam time was a white knuckle moment – glad I survived them all. Graduation was a highlight – meeting Jancis Robinson and Hugh Johnson was unforgettable.

Although I don’t currently work in the trade, the study of wine has been very rewarding. Once you start studying, you find out how much you truly do not know.
