Robert Noël 2008


As the official sommelier for Alcool NB Liquor, Robert Noël offers consultation services in wine training and wine list creation for restaurants, participates and contributes to a number of special events for various organizations and licensees; he also develops and teaches wine seminars and courses through various learning programs.

His public education includes contributing weekly wine articles in three New Brunswick newspapers and various other medias including web sites and magazine; the Times Transcript, Miramichi Leader and L’Acadie Nouvelle, Occasion Magazine as well as the hosting duties on Table d’hôte, a 28-episode Rogers Television series showcasing wine & food pairing with creative recipes, local products and guests from across New Brunswick like chefs, growers, farmers and cheese producers.

Mr. Noël has earned his diploma certification from Wine & Spirit Trust Education, London; England. He earned his sommelier certification at the International Sommelier Guild, SAIT, Calgary, Alberta. He is also a certified sommelier through the Court of Master Sommelier and has a bachelors degree in Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Management from l’Université du Québec à Montréal (in co-operation with the Institut d’Hospitalité et du Tourisme du Québec in Montréal).

Originally from the island of Lamèque, New Brunswick, Robert has lived and worked in the hospitality industry in British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec, the American, British and French Virgin Islands; including Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel & Resort, Rimrock Resort Hotel, The Wickaninnish Inn Relais & Château and the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. M. Noel had the opportunity to work in some of the best restaurant and hotels including a number of four and five CAA/AAA diamonds awards, restaurants with award-winning wine lists.

M. Noël is recognized for his passion for food and wine, also for his fine nose and palate. He loves experimenting with food and wine pairings. Robert’s love for cooking, and his wine collection, is greatly appreciated by his friend and family. Robert’s favourite quote, explains very well his philosophy when it comes to wine and food: “the best wine is the wine of the moment shared with great friends around a fine meal”.
