John Switzer


John is a Professor at the Schulich School of Management, York University as well as an Instructor of Principled Negotiations for the Harvard Negotiation Project. A former management consultant, he completed his WEST Level 4 Diploma and is a Certified Specialist in Wine with the Society of Wine Educators. He is Director of the WSET Diploma Program at IWEG.

In addition to his involvement in education, John operates a boutique wine agency, specializing in craft wines from the Rhône valley. He is also an avid wine writer, including writing for the biweekly Winesights Vintages newsletter, the Winesights Reader blog, and a wine column for a Toronto-based lifestyle magazine.

Wine Travel: John and his wife travel extensively, with visits to wine country whenever he gets permission. To date, they have visited the Rhône valley, Burgundy, Italy (Tuscany, Liguria, Friuli, Umbria), Germany (Rheingau), Spain (Jerez, Catalunya), Crete, New Zealand (Martinborough, Napier, Waipara, Marlborough), Australia (Mornington Peninsula, Yarra Valley, Bendigo), California (Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, Santa Barbara), and of course, Niagara and the Okanagan.
