Kermit Lynch's Adventures on the Wine Route

New and classic tales

Back in 1988, Berkeley-based wine agent Kermit Lynch wrote what many still consider the best book on wine written in English — perhaps any language. Adventures on the Wine Route: A Wine Buyer’s Tour of France is a journey of discovery, lovingly detailed in lyrical and insightful prose that illuminates the personalities of the winegrowers encountered during Lynch’s formative years.

Curl up on the couch with these other new and classic tales:

The Billionaire's Vinegar: The Mystery of the World's Most Expensive Bottle of Wine by Benjamin Wallace tells the true story of a 1787 Château Lafite Bordeaux—supposedly owned by Thomas Jefferson—that sold for $156,000 at auction and of the eccentrics whose lives intersected with it.

Imbibe!: From Absinthe Cocktail to Whiskey Smash, a Salute in Stories and Drinks to ‘Professor’ Jerry Thomas, Pioneer of the American Bar by David Wondrich is a lively, well-researched history book showcases the story of the golden age of cocktails in America and the man at the center of it: Jerry Thomas.
