IWEG instructor selected for Wines from Spain certificate program

Spanish Wine Scholar and French Wine Scholar instructor Caitlin Ferguson DipWSET has been selected to participate in the Wines from Spain's new Spanish wine certificate program. The objective of the course is to give professionals a deep understanding of Spanish wines, to know where the current Spanish wine industry comes from and where it is headed. Attention will also be given to the connection between wines and regional gastronomies. The central part of the course will focus on the fundamental styles of wine in Spain from the perspective of the country’s grape varieties. The ultimate aim of the course is to build a network of enthusiastic Spanish wine ambassadors, eager to teach and spread their passion and knowledge.

Vine to Wine: A Year of Viti/Vini

Wine Scholar Guild launches Vine to Wine, a new blog series that will chronicle what is happening in the vineyard and in the winery each and every month of the calendar year. Nova Cadamatre MW and winemaker, will author these authoritative and detailed posts drawing upon her studies (Cornell Viticulture and Enology graduate) as well as her winemaking experience in California, China and the Finger Lakes.

Each Vine to Wine installment will detail that month’s vineyard and winery tasks with deep dives into a particular grape growing or wine making topic such as pruning methods and training systems or barrel aging and fermentation vessels.

The series is designed to give wine students and educators an opportunity to develop or hone their technical savvy. Check out the January post.
