How to stay motivated

While Rebecca Richardson is looking forward to the return of in-person tastings, she continues her wine studies at home, most recently with the Wine Scholar Guild courses. We asked her to share how she stays motivated:

The Wine Scholar Guild courses are challenging, then add the uncertainty of a global pandemic! But they have helped me stay motivated throughout this last year. Always remember you can do anything you put your mind to, especially if it's a passion of yours. Simply, and I use that term lightly, organize your time, set deadlines to hold yourself accountable, find the best study methods for you (whether being note taking, reading and rereading, tracing and using maps, relistening to classes etc.), and study a bit each day to avoid cramming last minute. Believe me, when you see all your hard work pay off the countless hours and sleepless nights are totally worth it.

WSET celebrates milestone ten thousand sake students

WSET is proud to announce that over ten thousand students across the globe have now taken one of its sake qualifications. This is a huge milestone given sake’s niche position in the global drinks market with its influence outside Japan traditionally limited due to geographical and linguistic barriers.

Antony Moss MW DipWSET, WSET Qualifications Director, began developing WSET’s sake qualifications in 2013 with the help of sake expert Natsuki Kikuya (pictured above) and with support from the National Research Institute of Brewing in Hiroshima. The WSET Level 3 Award in Sake was launched in August 2014 with the first educators trained in Japan and the US. Both Antony Moss and Natsuki, have now been inaugurated by the Japanese sake industry with the prestigious title of ‘Sake Samurai’ for their contribution to the industry. Learn more about the rise of sake education
