Understanding and Identifying Wine Faults

The Wine Scholar Guild's Science of Wine Tasting Series is designed to help students of wine sharpen their tasting skills and master the latest scientific advancements in wine chemistry and sensory evaluation. Each of the four segments is composed of three to four live, online presentations.

From May 10 - June 21, Jamie Goode will define the origin and describe the identifiers of some of the most prevalent wine faults/taints in this four-part series: TCA, brettanomyces, reduction/volatile sulphur compounds, oxidation, volatile acidity, smoke taint, eucalyptus, geosmin, mouse taint, and ropiness. Register now!

California Wines Sommelier Sessions: Lodi Liquid Gold

The Lodi appellation is fast becoming one of the most interesting and innovative regions in California. Located about 68 miles from San Francisco, Lodi is known as a major center of wine production, and has been a respected part of California's wine industry for over 100 years.

On May 19th at 2pm, join Ironstone Winery Co-Owner and Global Sales & Marketing Director Joan Kautz and Ironstone Director of Winemaking Steve Millier for an overview of some of their most popular wines stemming from Lodi. They will share what makes Lodi unique, special, growing in demand and why this appellation works well with all types of cuisines.

Joining Joan and Steve will be Taylor Douglas of International Cellars, as well as Despina Triantos and Taimi Massey of Lifford Wines who will share their insights of Lodi and Ironstone wines. Register now!
